A chemical import permit is a mandatory procedure for chemicals listed under Vietnam’s controlled chemical categories.
The permit may be issued for a specific shipment or for a defined validity period, typically from 6 to 12 months, depending on the type of chemical and its intended use.

If the application dossier is complete, the processing time is generally 10–15 working days.

Enterprises are required to prepare supporting documents such as the Enterprise Registration Certificate with relevant business lines, a list of imported chemicals (including chemical name, CAS number, and quantity), the SDS/MSDS, and expected commercial documents such as contract, invoice, or packing list, together with information on storage facilities and the person responsible for chemical safety, if required.
